Turn Data Into a Table

Auto formatting means letting Excel style your data instead of painting cells by hand. The fastest route is the shortcut Ctrl + T (or the Format as Table button on the Home tab).

1. Click any cell inside your data.
2. Press Ctrl + T.
3. Make sure My table has headers is checked.
4. Click OK.

1. Select any cell inside the table (the Table Design tab appears).

Banded Rows and Emphasis Options

The banded and emphasis toggles live in the Table Design Table Style Options:

Remove the Table Look Without Losing Data

If you want plain cells but want to keep the neat look and the data:

1. Select any cell in the table.
2. Go to Table Design → Tools → Convert to Range.
3. Confirm.

The data stays; the table behavior (auto-expansion, filters) is removed.
